Part 05
Leo
Observe first. Interpret second. Research third.
What this sign is
Leo, in this old language, is a style: fire that shines. The lion. Heart. Performance. Pride. The need to be seen, and the generosity that comes when a centre is warm. Not a drama costume. A way an action can wear solar courage.
You will meet it in a gift that is given in the open. A child. A stage. A roar that is love. You will also meet it in a roar that only wants a stage. Style. Not a personality prison.
Element and modality
Leo is fixed fire in the common teaching map. Fixed holds. It will not easily yield the centre. Fire is heat, appetite, will, spirit. Put them together and you get a heart-heat that stays. A lion. Solar courage. Pride as a flame that can warm a room or eat it.
Hold-the-heat can be dignity. It can also be a spotlight that never goes off. If the image is shy water, do not glue a lion to it.
Why it matters for a reader
Readers either worship shine or punish it. Leo trains you to talk about heart-courage, creative nerve, and pride as a wound and a medicine, without a star-sign sticker.
It also asks whether the warmth includes anyone else. A centre that only bleaches is not generosity. It is glare.
How to recognise it
In life: stages, children, gold, a generous table, a need to be witnessed, a mane, a roar, a gift. Also: performing a self until there is nobody home. Sulking when the room looks elsewhere.
In a card: lions, suns, sunflowers, gold, a woman and a beast, a wreath, a figure facing you, Six of Wands as being seen, Strength as heart-heat. Also: a smile that is a demand.
Light
Heart-courage. Warmth that includes other people. Creative nerve. Pride as dignity. Play. Generosity. A centre that makes a garden grow. Being seen without eating the room.
Shadow
Glare. Pride that cannot hear. Overexpression: the stage as the only proof of life. Drama as weather. Avoidance: dimming, shrinking, calling visibility vulgar so you never have to risk a heart in the open.
How it can meet tarot
A common correspondence links Leo with Strength. The lion is not being subtle about it. Heart, heat, pride, the animal nature met with dignity. That is a traditional teaching map with this deck. Use it when the heart-heat of the lion is actually in the question. If Leo would only mean dramatic personality, skip it.
Leo can also visit The Sun, the Six of Wands, the Queen of Wands, the Three of Wands as a horizon that wants to be seen. The Sun is the traditional ruler in the old map. If solar language would only repeat the card's title, you do not need both.
When to leave it alone
Leave it when you would stick Leo on a woman in a white dress and stop. Leave it when the querent's birthday is the only reason you reached for a lion. Leave it if shine would only mean ego as an insult. If the heart-heat is not in the question, the sign is trivia.
Strength, heart-heat not a sticker
Sit with Strength. A woman. A lion. Infinity at the head. Flowers. A white dress. Mountains. Hands on a jaw. Traditional notes will talk about courage, patience, gentle control. Keep the contact. Then look.
A common link is Leo: fixed fire, heart, the lion. Useful when this card is meeting raw force with dignity. Pride and tenderness in the same gesture. Solar courage that does not need to roar. If that sentence helps the question, the correspondence earned its keep. If you only said Leo and moved on, you used trivia. Trivia is not reading.

Practice
Heart, not a performance
Open Strength in the Tarot Library. Write where the heat is, and whether it looks like dignity or a demand to be seen. Then pull one card for a place you want applause. Ask if Leo weather is in it. If the card is quiet earth, do not drag a stage onto it.
