Cleansing
Water and baths
Water is the most ordinary clear you have. Hands. Face. A bath. Rain on a walk. The job is coming back to skin.
What this is
Using water to mark that a reading, a day, or someone else's story is not sitting on you. A traditional map loves rivers and baths. Your tap is allowed.
Why it matters
The body understands rinse. After a raw spread, a wash is often wiser than another card. Cards are paper. They do not go in the tub.
How to recognise it
You will feel more in your skin, less in the last hour's weather. If you are turning baths into a complicated rite you will never do, shrink it to a sink.
How to use it
Hands before and after. A shower when a reading has sat on you. A bath if you like and have the time. Intention in the water is optional: I am back in my own life. Dry the deck well away from steam.
Light
Skin. Temperature. A true return. Kindness that does not need a speech.
Shadow
Endless soaking instead of closing. Magical thinking that a bath will do the conversation. Getting the tools wet. Using water to wash away a feeling you still need to journal once.
Example
You read for a friend in grief. Afterwards you feel grey. You wash your hands, have a shower, eat. That is water as aftercare. It is not an emergency. It is a body clocking off.
Practice
Hands, then a card
Wash your hands with attention. Pull one card. After, wash again and drink a glass of water. Write whether the container felt different. That is the whole experiment.
