Salt
Salt is ordinary. Kitchen, sea, a line by a door in some folk maps. It is a reminder of a boundary, not a war.
What this is
A mineral people have long used to mark a rim: a bowl on the table, a pinch at a threshold, a rinse for a stone that can take it. The quality is: this far, and no further.
Why it matters
Because a physical rim helps some people feel an energetic one. Because decks and paper do not enjoy salt. Care of tools is part of the method.
How to recognise it
Useful if a small bowl actually steadies you. Not useful if you are circling the house in fear. If a method makes you more scared, it is not working.
How to use it
A dish of salt on the table, then throw it away after, or return it to earth or bin as you prefer. Do not pour it over cards. Check whether a stone can take salt or water before you rest it there. Then do the actual close: hands, window, deck away.
Light
A simple rim. A kitchen tool doing a symbolic job. Then you come back to the room.
Shadow
Salt as a siege. Ruining tools. Folk panic. Thinking a mineral can replace a no you will not say.
Example
A pinch in a saucer while you read for someone else. After, you bin it, wash your hands, open the window. The salt was a rim. The wash was the practice.
Practice
Rim, then ordinary
If salt helps you, put a small dish near the table for one reading, not on the cards. After, discard it and wash your hands. If salt does not help you, skip it and do hands and window. Write what actually marked the end.
