Expansion
Expansion is a card getting bigger in the room. Feeling, identity, possibility, weather. Bigger is not automatically better.
What this is
Open gesture. Overflow. A sky that has room. A yes with volume. The Sun, Ace of Cups, The World when it is a wreath you can stand in.
Why it matters
If you miss expansion you will counsel caution on a table that is opening. If you only want expansion you will skip every necessary contraction.
How to recognise it
Raised arms, overflowing cups, gold, a child, a landscape that recedes, light that fills the frame. Ask what is getting larger.
How to use it
Name what is opening. Then ask whether the question can hold it. Neighbours matter. Ace of Cups beside Five of Cups is expansion the figure has not turned toward yet.
Light
Warmth. A self that can play. Feeling that has room. Growth that is actually available.
Shadow
Inflation. Glare. Overflow as flood. More as a way not to choose. Expansion that ignores the body.
Example
The Sun alone: expansion, warmth, a self that can play, emotional tone of yes. Beside Two of Swords, that yes may be what is available when the blindfold comes off, or what someone is hiding from.

Pull a card. Write one line on expansion: what, if anything, is getting larger. If nothing is, write that. Unexpanded is a result. Then interpret.
