Energy

Movement

Things in transit. What is going somewhere. Speed is not automatically progress.

Energy, here, means how a card sits. Movement is a verb you can see. You learn it by looking, not by memorising a mood.

What this is

Wands in flight. A figure walking. A wheel. Hair in wind. Water that is going. A path that is being used. Ask: what is going somewhere?

Why it matters

If you miss movement you will counsel rest on a table that is already in the air. If you worship movement you will call haste a calling.

How to recognise it

Look at bodies, objects, weather. Is anything mid-gesture. Are feet planted or leaving. Is the landscape streaking past. Eight of Wands is almost all this quality.

How to use it

Name two or three energy words, not twelve. If the question is should I wait, movement already argues. If the question is will I rest, the card may be showing why rest is not happening.

Light

Honest transit. A message on its way. Life that can change rooms. Momentum you are participating in.

Shadow

Speed as avoidance. Motion that will not feel. Leaving as a lifestyle. Calling restlessness a sign.

Example

Eight of Wands: wands in the air, landscape below, almost no person. Movement, action, speed, a message in transit. Not much receptivity in the picture. The wands are going.

Practice

Energy before the name

Pull a card. Before you even say its name, write whether anything is moving, and where you see it. Then name the card. Then see whether a traditional note agrees, argues, or adds.

Reflection

Do you notice movement first, or do you skip it because you like still captions?
