Receptivity
Receptivity is not passivity as a failure. It is a cup turned the right way up. It can also be waiting as a stall.
What this is
An offer. A pour. A face that can take something in. Star water. Ace of Cups. High Priestess as receiving what is not said.
Why it matters
If you cannot see receptivity you will tell every figure to try harder. If you cannot see its shadow you will call a stall a spiritual opening.
How to recognise it
Open hands, cups, gifts from clouds, a figure looking up, water overflowing, a posture that can take. Also: a cup refused, Four of Cups, which is receptivity in argument with itself.
How to use it
Ask what is being offered, and whether anyone is receiving. In advice this may be let it in. In challenge this may be you will not take the cup.
Light
A true yes to what arrives. Listening. Nourishment. Opening without disappearing.
Shadow
Flood. Waiting as identity. Taking anything so you never have a no. Refusing the offer and calling it discernment when it is sulk.
Example
Ace of Cups: a cup offered, water overflowing. Expansion of feeling. Receptivity. Beginning. If it lands beside Five of Cups, the expansion may be what the figure has not turned toward yet.

Practice
What is being offered
Pull a card. Write what, if anything, is being offered, and whether the figure can receive it. Then one sentence of reading. Pull even if you think you know the card.
