Tension
Tension is energy held against itself. It can be the moment before a true move. It can be a lifestyle of never putting the stick down.
What this is
Opposing forces in one frame. Two of Swords. Five of Wands. Seven of Wands. Ten of Wands. Strength as a meeting of woman and lion. Ask what is taut.
Why it matters
If you smooth tension into a keyword you will miss the reading. The tautness is often the point.
How to recognise it
Look at necks, hands, crossed objects, animals, loads, figures on a hill. Feel it in your own shoulders if that happens. Then check the image so you do not dump your Tuesday onto the card.
How to use it
Name the two forces. Then ask whether this tension wants a fight, a rest, or a putting-down. Neighbours tell you if speed became burden.
Light
Alertness. A worthy stand. Strength meeting force with dignity. The useful tautness before a choice.
Shadow
Grind. Conflict as weather you live in. A load you will not share. Tension as identity. Never exhaling.
Example
Ten of Wands: a figure, a load, a town ahead. Tension in the body. Action that has become grind. If this card sits after Eight of Wands, you can feel the shift: speed became burden. That shift is the reading.

Practice
Name the tautness
Pull a card. Write where the tension lives in the picture, if it lives anywhere. Then write whether it wants a stand, a rest, or a putting-down. Interpret from that.
