Meditation
When emotions are loud
Meditation is not the absence of feeling. It is not making a story out of the first wave, and it is not immediately asking the cards to manage it.
What this is
Sit or walk or wash. Let the feeling be in the chest, the throat, the gut. Breathe toward it without a speech. Name it in one word if you can: grief, heat, shame, relief. Come back to the feet.
Why it matters
A loud emotion will wear a card like a costume. Three of Swords on a row-day may be the row. Naming the weather first is how you do not turn a mood into a metaphysics. It is also how you do not skip the feeling in the name of being a clear channel.
How to recognise it
You want a spread because you cannot bear the next ten minutes. That urge is data. Twitchy, flooded, blank: all allowed. Staying is the practice. Pulling a fifth spread is often not.
How to use it
One minute with the feeling and the feet. Then decide: rest, a walk, a human, or one card as a mirror, named as a mirror. Write the emotion first if you pull. If you are not fit to look honestly, do not begin.
Light
Feeling that can move. A pause that is kind. A reading that knows it is sitting next to weather.
Shadow
Spiritual bypass. Numbing and calling it stillness. Dumping the wave on the deck. Making the feeling a prophecy.
Example
You are heartbroken. You sit for one minute and name grief. Then you either wait, or you pull one card and write: I am already in this weather. The card is a mirror of now, not a sentence on the whole future.
Practice
Name it, then decide
Next time an emotion is loud, sit or walk for one minute before any cards. Write one word for the feeling. Then decide whether to pull. If you pull, write the emotion at the top of the page. If you do not, that is a complete practice.
