Ten of Cups

Traditionally the Ten of Cups is emotional fullness, the happy family, domestic bliss, a rainbow over the house, happily ever after. Keep that. It is the suit's harvest in the traditional language, and sometimes the table really is that kind.

Traditionally it is also the completion of a cycle of feeling, community as home, a blessing on the land. Then refuse the cartoon. A rainbow is a picture in the sky. Children dance. A couple raise their arms. Ask whether this fullness is lived, promised, remembered, or performed.

This fullness is overhead. A covenant, a vision, a climate. Ask where the happiness is located. In the bodies, in the house, or in the weather?

Two children dance beside them, smaller, in motion, not looking at the rainbow the same way the adults are. The children are in the grass. The adults are in the vow. That split is easy to miss if you only say family.

A house, trees, a river, a green stretch of land. Home is in the picture as a building, not only as a feeling. Someone lives somewhere. The river keeps the suit honest. Water is still moving through this happily-ever-after. It is not a sealed snow globe.

Traditionally this is Mars in Pisces. A surprise if you wanted only softness. Mars as the will that built the house, the energy in the raised arms. Pisces as the rainbow water, the boundless feeling.

If that pairing adds something, this happiness took effort. Someone drove the water into a home. If it does not add, the raised arms and the river will still tell you this is not a nap. Do not paste Mars onto a family just to sound technical.

Ten can be a harvest and it can be a load. In Cups the harvest looks like belonging. The load would be the demand that life look like this picture. Number plus suit is not a guarantee. The image still has to be read.

In love, a shared future, or the fantasy of one. In family questions it can be almost literal. In work, a team that feels like a household, or a brand selling belonging. As advice, put your arms around someone and look up. As a warning, come down from the rainbow and into the kitchen.

Beside the Five of Cups, this may be the town across the bridge, and the reading is about crossing. Beside the Nine, the solo wish has to make room or refuse to. Beside the Devil, the happy picture has a chain. Beside the Tower, the house under the rainbow is not exempt from weather.
