Libra

Libra, in this old language, is a style: air that balances. The scales. Relating. The wish for fair. Beauty as a kind of justice. Not a people-pleasing costume. A way an action can wear a we.

You will meet it in a contract, a pause before a verdict, a room arranged so both can sit. You will also meet it in a stall that keeps the scales pretty instead of true. Style. Not a prison.

Libra is cardinal air in the common teaching map. Cardinal starts. It initiates. Air is mind, word, truth, distance, the cut of thought. Put them together and you get a first move toward relating. A decision that wants to be fair. Scales held out. A we that has not been vowed yet, but has been named.

Start-by-balancing can be integrity. It can also be a delay dressed as fairness. If the image is a ram through a door, do not invent a courtroom.

Readings about partnership, fairness, and the cost of imbalance are common. Libra gives you a style for that without turning every Two of Cups into a wedding, and without turning Justice into a personality.

Fairness that has a spine. Relating that can tell the truth. Beauty as honour. The gift of more than one side, used. A decision that will affect a we and still gets made. Harmony that is true, not pretty.

Stall. People-pleasing. Overexpression: the scales never come down, peace as a performance. Avoidance: a blunt verdict so you never have to sit in the tension, or disappearing so nobody can say you chose.

A common correspondence links Libra with Justice. The scales are already in her hand. Relating, the wish for harmony, the gift of seeing more than one side, the stall that can come with that gift. That is a traditional teaching map with this deck. Use it when the card is actually about the cost of imbalance, and the temptation to keep the scales pretty instead of true. If Libra would only be she likes peace, skip it.

Libra can also visit The Lovers as a choice in a we, the Two of Cups, the Two of Swords as a stalled pair. Venus is the traditional ruler in the old map. If Venus is already naming worth and relating, you may not need the scales as well.

Leave it when you would print a star sign on a partnership question and stop. Leave it when the card is a solo vow and you are dragging a we onto it. Leave it if fair would only mean nice. If you cannot see a weighing, a relating, or a decision with two sides, the sign is not earning a sentence.

Sit with Justice. A sword. Scales. A crown. Pillars. Purple. A square on the crown in many decks. A figure who looks at you. Traditional notes will talk about truth, law, consequence. Keep the cut. Then look.
