Course/Chakras and Body Awareness/The seven centres
Part 03
Solar plexus
Observe first. Interpret second. Research third.
The theme
Solar plexus, in this map, is personal power. Will. Identity. The I that acts. Digestion of life as well as food. The question: can I do this, and is it mine to do?
Wands and some courts live here. So do collapse and control, which are the same house with the lights changed.
Where people point
In this educational map, people usually point to the upper belly, the soft place under the ribs, around the navel and the diaphragm. Use that as a reminder of will, not as a medical fact about your body.
Butterflies, a knot, heat, a hollow, nausea before a conversation: all of that can live here. So can coffee. So can last night's food. Pointing is a map. It is not a diagnosis.
Colour in this map
Yellow is the traditional teaching colour in this map. Sun, grain, a lamp in the middle of you. It is a memory aid, not a medical fact, and it is not a rule for your clothes.
If yellow never speaks to you, you can still work with solar plexus as will and identity. Colour is a teaching tool. It's not a test.
Body awareness
People often point to the upper belly, the soft place under the ribs. Butterflies. A knot. Heat. A hollow. Nausea before a conversation.
Coffee can live here. Anxiety can live here. Intuition can live here. Do not pick the most spiritual option by default. Write what is true, then see which impressions keep company with accurate readings over time.
Light
Agency. A clean I. Doing without crushing. Confidence that has been tested. The ability to take up a task and put it down.
Solar plexus light can look like a clean no, a job you actually start, heat that does a job and then rests. Will that includes listening.
Shadow
Control. Collapse of will. Shame in the gut. Performing power. Bulldozing. Making everything a test of identity. Solar plexus as a fist.
Shadow also lives in the person who cannot rest because every knock is an identity threat, and in the person who will not stand up in a room they could stand in. Both are will in trouble.
Nourishing foods in this map
Some traditions pair this centre with yellow foods, banana, corn, lemon, ginger, oats and grains. That pairing is a way of paying attention to will and warmth. It is not medicine. Eating them will not physically heal a chakra.
Eat like a person. A breakfast is sometimes the most honest solar plexus practice available. Do not treat a fruit as a cure.
Practices you can actually do
Meditation: sit with a hand on the upper belly. Breathe there without making a fist of the breath. One minute. Notice heat, hollow, knot, or nothing.
Visualisation: a warm lamp under the ribs. Yellow if colour helps. Light that can do a job, then dim. Not a spotlight you have to live in.
Movement: stand with the chest easy and the belly soft. Walk in daylight. Core-aware movement if you already do it, without turning it into a personality.
Reflection: pick one place you keep saying I should. Ask whose will it is. Write three lines. Then choose a small act that is actually yours, or a rest that is actually yours.
Energy work and self-care: name one yes and one no out loud. Eat. Rest the will after you have used it. Do not perform confidence at yourself.
How this can meet tarot
Wands. Magician. Emperor. Strength. Chariot. Seven of Wands. Two of Wands. A court that is all will and no listening. Light: agency. Shadow: control, or collapse of will. If a spread is asking you to act, you may be in this territory. If it is asking you to rest, do not force a warrior onto it.
Seven of Wands, will on a hill
One figure, six wands coming up, higher ground. Solar plexus as I will not be moved. That can be dignity. It can be a person who cannot rest because every knock is an identity threat. The centre does not tell you which. The face, the question, and the surrounding cards do.

Practice
Whose will
Pull a card for a place you keep saying I should. Ask: is this my will, someone else's, or a collapse? Write three lines. If you feel it in the upper belly, note it. Do not promote the sensation to a command.
