Course/Chakras and Body Awareness/The seven centres

Part 06

Third eye

Seeing, pattern, intuition. Seeing is not the same as inventing.

Observe first. Interpret second. Research third.

The theme

Third eye, in this map, is seeing. Insight. Pattern. Imagination. The inner picture. Intuition as vision, not only as gut. The question: what am I seeing, and is it seeing or inventing?

The High Priestess sits near this conversation. So does The Moon. Seeing is not the same as inventing. Record. Test. That is later in Developing Intuition. Here, just notice.

Where people point

In this educational map, people usually point to the brow, between the eyes, the forehead. Use that as a reminder of seeing, not as a medical fact about your body.

A pressure, a brightness, a headache, an image behind the lids: all of that can live here. Tired eyes from screens live here too. Pointing is a map. A headache is often a screen. Check the ordinary first.

Colour in this map

Indigo is the traditional teaching colour in this map. Night sky, deep blue going toward violet. It is a memory aid, not a medical fact, and it is not a rule for your clothes.

If indigo never speaks to you, you can still work with third eye as seeing and pattern. Colour is a teaching tool. It's not a test.

Body awareness

Brow, between the eyes, a pressure, a brightness, a headache, an image behind the lids. Tired eyes from screens live here too.

If you want a vision every time you sit, you will invent. If you ignore every inner picture because you are scared of being woo, you will miss your own language. Record. Test. That is later in Developing Intuition. Here, just notice.

Light

Clear seeing. Pattern without paranoia. Imagination in service of truth. Intuition that can be checked. The humility to say I do not see yet.

Third eye light can look like a first impression you write down, a dream you keep without forcing a meaning, the picture on the card actually looked at. Sight that can wait.

Shadow

Projection. Fantasy as fact. Spiritual peeping. Headache as a badge. Over-reading. Closing the eyes so you never have to see what is in front of you. Third eye as a performance of being psychic.

Shadow also lives in trusting inner seeing too much, and in trusting it too little. Testing over a month is how you find the middle.

Nourishing foods in this map

Some traditions pair this centre with dark berries, grapes, purple foods, and cacao. That pairing is a way of paying attention to inner seeing. It is not medicine. Eating them will not physically heal a chakra.

Eat like a person. A handful of berries is not a vision. Do not treat a fruit as a cure, and do not skip sleep in the name of insight.

Practices you can actually do

Meditation: sit with eyes closed for one minute. Notice whether an image arrives. If nothing arrives, that is a result. Do not strain for a vision.

Visualisation: indigo at the brow if colour helps, or simply a quiet dark. Soft focus. No film you have to produce.

Movement: look at the actual sky. Rest the eyes. Less screen before bed. A slow walk without a podcast, noticing what you see.

Reflection: journal a dream or an inner picture without interpreting it yet. Later, see whether it kept company with something true.

Energy work and self-care: pull a card and ask whether the inner image and the card are in conversation, or whether you have two separate pictures. Do not force a marriage. Sleep is third eye care.

How this can meet tarot

High Priestess. Moon. Hermit. Queen of Swords when she is seeing rather than cutting. Seven of Cups when seeing has become fog. A spread that is about insight, dreams, or the thing nobody will name. Ask: is this card inviting me to look, or to stop making pictures up?

The High Priestess, the veil

Pillars, a scroll, a veil, the moon at her feet in many decks. Third eye light: inner knowing that does not rush to perform. Third eye shadow: mystery as a costume, or refusing to look at the obvious because the hidden feels more special. She is a teacher of seeing. She is not a dare to invent.

Practice

Image, then check

Sit with eyes closed for one minute. Notice whether an image arrives. Write it. Then pull a tarot card. Ask whether the inner image and the card are in conversation, or whether you have two separate pictures. Journal both. Do not force a marriage.

Reflection

Do you trust inner seeing too much, or too little, and what would testing it over a month change?
