A guided practice reading

This is a teaching spread, not a claim about your life. We will treat it as if a student sat down with a real question and used Situation Challenge Advice.

Question: what is the honest energy of my work just now, and what is the next constructive move?

Intention: look honestly, no lullaby, stop when it is said. First impression of the table, written before names get clever: skilled, dry, a door with air behind it.

Situation: Eight of Pentacles. Craft, repetition, the apprentice who is no longer an amateur. Energy: focused, busy, possibly cramped. Light: skill, devotion to the making. Shadow: the mill, work that has become the only room in the house.

Challenge: Four of Cups. A cup offered, three already there, a folded arm. Energy: still, inward, appetite gone quiet. Light: a needed pause, discernment about what you will not drink. Shadow: sulk, boredom mistaken for wisdom, refusing a live offer because it is not the fantasy cup.

Advice: Ace of Wands. A spark, a stick that is alive, a yes with heat in it. Energy: beginning, upward, small and potent. Light: start, make, want. Shadow: a firework that is not a life, impulse without craft.

Repeats: hands, offering, making. The Eight is making. The Four is refusing what is offered. The Ace is a new offering that is not a cup. Elemental contrast: earth, water, fire. The work is practical. The stuckness is emotional appetite. The move is heat, not more of the same mill.

Relationships: the Four explains the Eight. The skill is present and the want is not. The Ace does not argue with the Eight. It asks the craft to go somewhere live. That is complement, not contradiction. If we had pulled The Fool here, we would have talked about leap. We pulled an Ace of Wands, so we talk about a spark you actually have to tend.

Traditional last: all three agree with the looking. Good. We still do not replace the looking with the book.

Brought together: you are skilled, and you have gone dry. The challenge is not lack of ability. It is lack of appetite. The honest move is not another certificate. It is a small live beginning that uses the craft you already have. Light of the Ace: start something that warms you. Shadow of the Ace: do not throw the skill in the bin for a mood. Shadow of the Four: do not call this pause enlightenment if it is only a folded arm.

Spoken to the student, without theatre: you have the skill. The dryness is the problem. Make something small that you actually want. Do not wait for the perfect cup. Do not burn the workshop down.

That is enough. We do not add a job title. We do not predict a date. We do not tell them to resign this afternoon. Autonomy stays with them. Then we put the cards away and come back to the room.
