The interpretation formula

Card: the picture, the tradition, the energy, the number, whatever in this card is actually speaking. The card is the noun and the verb. It is not the whole sentence.

Question: the reason the card was drawn. Same Three of Swords, different life, as you have already practised. Without the question, you are reciting.

Position: the job in the spread. Advice is not challenge. Past is not future. A restful card in the obstacle seat is not the same restful card in the path seat.

Context: the life in the room. Who is asking, what is already true, what they can actually do. Ten of Pentacles in a first-home question is not Ten of Pentacles in a family business you hate.

Surrounding cards: the conversation. Reinforcement, contradiction, complement, facing, story. A card with no neighbours is still in conversation with the question. A card in a spread is never alone.

Intuition: the first impression, the channel that is yours, the thing you know before you can prove it, tested rather than worshipped. It does not get to bully the picture. It also does not get thrown away because the book was louder.

You will not say the plus signs out loud. You will not give six headings to a friend who asked a simple question. You will let the formula check you when you get stuck.

Stuck on a card you know too well? You probably dropped question and position. Stuck on a card you do not know? You probably dropped looking and ran at the book. Stuck in a wish? You probably dropped context and surrounding cards, because they were spoiling the ending.

The formula is a set of reminders, not a machine. Deeper interpretation is the sum. A caption is what you get when you only keep the first word.

Card: The Fool. Traditional beginning, trust, leap, the edge. Image of a walker who is not looking down. Energy: open air, motion, a bag that is too small for a long life.

Question: what is the honest next step at work?

Position: advice, in a Situation Challenge Advice spread.

Context: you have been competent and bored. You already know the job. You are not twenty and unskilled. The leap is not beginner chaos. It is a refusal to keep pretending.

Surrounding cards: Eight of Pentacles in situation, Four of Cups in challenge. The work is skilled. The challenge is appetite gone flat. The Fool as advice is not quit in a sulk. It is begin something live, with the craft you already have.

Intuition, written first: enough. One word. It survived the looking.

Brought together: you are not being asked to become a beginner. You are being asked to take the skill somewhere that still has air in it. The Four of Cups is the warning. Stay, and you will keep looking at the same cup and calling it loyalty.
