Pentacles

When Pentacles dominate, look for the solid world. Livelihood, health, house, skill, food, time, the garden, the ledger. The traditional element is earth. Recognise it: coins, discs, pentagrams, gardens, markets, tools, hedgerows, figures who grow, build, count, teach a craft, or rest in a body.

Earth holds and grows and weighs. A Pentacle can be a real opportunity. A Pentacle can be greed, stuckness, a life reduced to what it earns. Do not sneer at earth as unspiritual. You live in a body. The cards know.

The Ace is the seed in the garden, the chance you can hold. Twos juggle. Threes craft together. Fours hold tight. Fives go out in the cold, excluded from warmth and resource. Sixes give and receive. Sevens wait on a crop. Eights apprentice, repeat, skill themselves. Nines enjoy a garden they have grown, with the solitude of that. Tens show a household, a legacy, earth completed into family and property, for better and for complication.

The courts are stances in earth: the student of a craft, the pursuit of work or wealth, the inner knowing of how to make a life live, the outer responsibility for resource. Page of Pentacles is not a lesser person. They are the one willing to learn the element that feeds everybody.

Five: disruption. Pentacles: earth, resource, body, belonging in the material world. The image: two figures in snow, rags, a lit window, often a church, they are outside it.

Traditional notes: hardship, poverty, exclusion, illness, being left out in the cold. Structure gets you close: the fifth has arrived in earth, the structure of fours has failed someone. The image tells you about weather, body, and a light they are not inside. Whether that window is a refuge, a taunt, or a place they will not go, the question decides.
