Welcome to the Method

Tarot is a language. Seventy-eight images that talk to each other. You can learn that language properly, or you can collect captions and hope they save you when a real question lands. I am here for the first of those.

You will learn the structure of a tarot deck. Majors. Minors. Suits. Numbers. Courts. You will walk the Major Arcana as a connected sequence. You will sit with each card. Then, and only then, I will train you to look as a skill, to use other layers when they are actually speaking, and to trust your own sight.

Intuition is part of the Method. It is not the first lesson, because intuition with no foundation is just confidence. I want you able to say: I know what this card is. I can see what it is doing. And something in me is answering. That last part only holds if the first two are real. The whole point is not that you finish knowing my answers. It is that you understand yourself better, you know how to use these tools, you know how to practise, and you trust your own sight more than you did when you arrived. Your intuition may not look like mine. That is not a problem. That is the work.

This is for people who want to read tarot, including for themselves, and are willing to do the unglamorous bit. Learning a deck. Handling it. Getting a Three mixed up with a Five and coming back the next day.

If you already read, you are welcome. Bring what you know. Be willing to put some of it down long enough to learn the house we are working in. If you are brand new, you are not behind. You are at the door, which is the correct place to start.

I will be warm. I will also be direct. When a habit is lazy, I will say so. That is teaching, not unkindness.

Cards first. Then looking. Then intuition.

I will not dump a giant looking checklist on you today. Looking is a skill, and it has its own module once you know what you are looking at. If I teach you to stare at rain before you know a Sword from a Cup, you will write poetry and still not be able to read.

So this is the promise. We learn the language. We learn to see past the caption. We learn to trust what arrives in you, with discernment, not with theatre. You will get there. Not by skipping the deck.

A lot of people know one sentence about the Three of Swords. Heartbreak. Fine. That sentence is a foundation, and we will honour it.

Later you will learn why it is a Sword, why it is a Three, what the image is actually doing, and how your own first look belongs in the reading. None of that replaces the card. It builds on it.

Today I only need you to understand the shape of the training. Tarot. Then sight. Then trust.
