Cleansing

Sound

A knock, a bell, a clap, a song. The air changes. You mark an edge.

Sound is one of the simplest clears. You do not need a singing bowl. A knock on the deck and a sentence will do.

What this is

Using a noise to start or stop. Bell, clap, knock, a single note, a playlist that belongs only to this table. The nervous system understands edges.

Why it matters

Readings that never close leak. A sound is a door. It can also become theatre you feel silly doing, in which case it will not last.

How to recognise it

If the sound actually brings you into the room, keep it. If you are performing a concert, shrink it. If neighbours share a wall, choose a knock, not a gong.

How to use it

Before: one sound, then the question. After: one sound, then the cards away. You can knock the deck three times if that helps your hands. Ordinary is allowed.

Light

A clear edge. A body that hears start and stop. Simple enough that you will actually do it when you are tired.

Shadow

Volume as spirituality. Collecting bowls. Sound as a way to skip stillness. Fright if you forget the bell.

Example

You knock the deck twice, name the question, look. After, you knock once, put the cards away, put the kettle on. That is a complete clear.

Practice

One sound each side

Choose one sound you will actually use: knock, clap, or a quiet bell. Use it before one card and after. Write whether the container felt different. Keep the sound small.

Reflection

What sound would you still use if you were tired, in a small room, with no special tools?
