Meditation
Waiting
You already wait. The practice is not filling every gap. Three breaths in a queue is meditation. It is also how you stop using a phone as a lid.
What this is
A gap in the day. Feel the feet. Feel the breath. Look at one ordinary object. When the itch for the phone arrives, notice it. You do not have to obey it.
Why it matters
A lot of what people call blocked intuition is an untrained mind doing its job: narrating, fixing, performing. Waiting is where you watch that without a special room.
How to recognise it
The hand goes to the pocket. That is the bell. You can look at the street instead. Twitchy is not a fail. Staying is the practice.
How to use it
Bus stop, kettle, loading bar, hold music. Three slower breaths. Name thinking if a story starts. Come back. If you are about to pull cards out of boredom, wait one more minute. Often the sitting is the reading.
Light
Gaps that belong to you. A mind that can return. Less hunger for a sign in every pause.
Shadow
Filling every silence. Calling boredom a spiritual emergency. Using waiting time only to hunt numbers on clocks.
Example
You are early. You almost open the number practice because the clock is kind. You stand with your feet instead. The number can wait until you are not hunting.
Practice
One queue, three breaths
The next time you wait, do not reach for the phone for three breaths. Feel your feet. Write later what the mind did. If a card still wants pulling, pull it after, not as a way to skip the wait.
