The teaching
Three is what happens when two is no longer enough. Something is expressed, made, spoken, or cut. Empress, three, growth. Three of Swords, three, a truth that will not stay private. Three of Cups, a gathering.
Light: creation, honest expression, a group that holds, a conversation that finally has all the people in it who belong.
Shadow: a crowd in the wound, gossip, a third person used as a weapon, scattering your force in too many directions. Three can be noise.
How to use it: count, then look at the arrangement. A triangle is different from three in a line. Three swords through one heart is not three cups raised. Same number, different verb.
Discernment: do not decide three is lucky or unlucky. Ask what is being made, said, or pierced. Then check the suit and the image.
