Wands

When Wands dominate a reading, look for heat. Projects, desire, anger, inspiration, leadership, burnout, the thing that wants to move now. The traditional element is fire, and you can recognise it in the pictures: staffs, staves, sprouts of green on wood, bright landscape, figures in motion.

Fire lights and warms and cooks. Fire also consumes. A Wand can be the spark that saves a life. A Wand can be a person who sets the room alight and leaves. Read the card, not a pep talk about passion.

The Ace is the spark. Twos and Threes start to plan and to make. Fours can be a celebration or a pause in the heat. Fives fight. Sixes taste victory and its stories. Sevens defend. Eights move fast. Nines stand tired and still standing. Tens carry too much of the fire's work.

The courts are how a person, a part of you, or a behaviour stands in fire: first reach, pursuit, inner inhabiting, outer command. Look at the figure. Do not file them as immature or masculine and stop.

Ten: harvest or overload of the suit. Wands: fire, work of the will, the campaign. The image in the Rider Waite Smith plates: a figure bent under a bundle of staves, a town ahead, the face not visible.

Traditional notes often include burden, too many responsibilities, the cost of ambition. You can get there from structure even if you had forgotten the caption: too much fire-work, carried alone, destination in sight and still heavy.

That is the suit doing its job in a single card.
